Getting in shape is sometimes a never ending project. For several years, I attempted on my own to work on my fitness
regimen and joined a local fitness center. I couldn’t understand why, although going regularly, there was not a change to my weight or appearance.
My wife, had some challenges with her rotator cuff and it seemed as if she was headed down the path of another surgery. She met Jake Smith at Max Fitness and discussed her health and concerns. Jake asked for Anne to trust him and with hard work and dedicated efforts, she avoided surgery and regained full movement of her shoulder. Jake found his first number one fan from our family and she constantly would come home and say you need to try Jake. So I did!
I made my way to Max Fitness and met Jake Smith. He is a fantastic personal trainer who modestly lives fitness and a healthier lifestyle. I have learned so much from Jake and am now building on a concrete fitness foundation. Jake provides specialized attention to your personal needs and corrects posture and movement to ensure you are maximizing the most from your workouts. He pushes you to be your best and naturally energizes motivation to just do better! I even provided a new motto which is “Less Cake and more Jake”!
Often it is difficult for us to hear what we need to do and how we need to eat healthier. Jake is honest, sincere and extremely knowledgeable in both fitness and nutrition. He gives the gentle nudge to keep you pushing for maximum results. My wife and I are both better because of Jake and Max Fitness. I can honestly say at 58 years of age, I feel healthier and stronger than I was in my 30’s.
Don’t wait! Trust the great work of Jake Smith and let him make you a better version of you!

In December 2013, I went for my yearly physical with my doctor. I was at least 25 lbs overweight, my blood pressure
was elevated, and my A1C levels were elevated. She put me on Metformin to lower my blood sugar. This was a huge wake-up for me, my younger sister is a bad diabetic and I’ve seen first hand what a terrible disease it is. I was scared.
I was talking to Molly, owner of MaxHealth Family Clinic in Colleyville, TX, not long after and told her that I really needed some help and she referred me to Kris at Max Health Fitness. He put me in a group class with Jake and Rodney. I had never been in a class like that before, I had never really lifted weights before, and for the first time I found muscles I never knew I had. I was sore ALL the time.
A year and eight months later, I have lost 23 lbs, my blood pressure is normal, my A1C levels are normal, I am no longer taking medication, and that’s not even the best part. The best part is that I’ve learned that I am limitless. Jake, Rodney, and Kris have all at one time pushed me, encouraged me, and sometimes forced me to do something I really thought I couldn’t do. They have confidence in me and it gives me confidence. I’m stronger than I’ve ever been physically and mentally. I’m still sore ALL the time, but I’m not scared.

When I first met Jake, I was there to see him because of my poor physical health. I had gained significant weight,
suffered constant back pain and was on various medications to control the typical age and weight related problems I was experiencing. My favorite restaurants were Taco Bell, Wendy’s and Pizza Hut.
I had used trainers in the past at both big box gyms and small gyms, so I had some preconceived notions regarding fitness and nutrition. I quickly realized that Jake was different, his approach addresses not only physical exercises but includes goal setting, and an extensive knowledge of food, nutrition, and supplements.
At first, I hated my workout sessions and could only manage two a week, now I work out five days a week, feel great and have eliminated virtually all of my medications.
This took a long time and required staying with it through the ups and downs.
Thanks to Jake Smith’s coaching, counseling, and insightful conversations I now maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Jake is truly a Master of Health and Fitness and if you listen to him, he will change your life for the better.

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for being my Personal Trainer since 2013, a very long time. Over the years I have experienced increased strength, endurance and physical status of my body including weight loss, all in the right places.
Very recently I had a traumatic situation for which I was hospitalized, however my quick recovery and ability to get back to my normal daily activities was not only a surprise to myself, but also to the medical staff and my family. I strongly believe that this achievement would not have been possible without our collective effort, especially Jake’s in pushing me through every work out session over the years with challenges to my body in getting it to the next level.
I an my entire family would like to thank you for being my personal trainer for 6 years, and still going, for the achievement of my physical status as it stands today.

I was working out very regularly and have always been a very active person my entire life, eating reasonably well, meaning not a fan of fried food and potato chips, no soda’s…etc. but started to gain weight gradually over the last years.
As this seemed a continuous trend, I mentioned this to what are called “professionals” like doctors, endocrinologists, trainers and heard all kind of reasons why this is happening, although I kept saying that I feel that something is not right:
This is normal as you get older
My blood work looks good so they is nothing to worry about
I look healthy
This is normal as hormone changes etc.
This led me to wonder if I am meant to work out 4 hours a day instead of 2? May-be not eat anything?
Doctors take your weight each time you go there, even if you see them to discuss something, but what do they do then with the data? They are not seeing any trend. IN advertising, non-medical certified people are supposed to go to doctors and not rely on their own judgement? I would disagree with this.
Some recommendations to try “south beach diet” or go to a general nutrition specialist was not interesting to me, to only hear how many calories I should eat a day or how good my diet is as compared to the usual American. Truth was, I was probably not eating enough!!
I tried twice to use a trainer at the gym. Because I have weaknesses in my shoulder and getting muscle spasms and with that, bad migraines, they were not able to find a workout that pushes me while still knowing how to handle the weaknesses I got. They usually just skipped the shoulder area. Those sessions were about how to use some machines or do some exercises, not bringing enough fun and adapting the curriculum to bring me to the next level.
The south beach diet: followed it for a while. No big deal.
Going back slowly toward the weight I use to be while becoming more knowledgeable about food metabolism and the benefits of weight training.
No. The first meeting usually sets the tone and gives an idea of a potential trust with the trainer, if you ask the right questions. If results would not occur quickly, this would not be the place to keep going.
Very customized based on customer personality, goals, potentials and physical issues. They know who and when to push further. Experienced but always looking to enhance their knowledge and share new findings with customers. Since Jake also does martial arts, he brings a different twist than traditional gym trainers, especially for those who are also do martial artists.
As long as you are not set in your own ways and willing to follow some set guidelines, it is worth to try. Many customers got great benefits and the fact they report the results to the insurance is a proof by itself.
Move heavier weights, jump higher boxes, faster punches.
The benefit of weight training.

In my past I went to another gym (that will remain nameless) and the trainer had me lift weights and walked away to socialize on the very first day. I had no clue if I was doing it right, needless to say I never returned.
Then I met Jake. In the beginning I had such an overwhelming fear of beginning the process. I am a plus size woman and my fear was I would not be able to do it. I am very self-conscious as it is. After taking body composition measurements with the In-body machine, I started the first workout.
Jake showed me nothing is impossible. It has been a little over 2 months now and my confidence, strength and energy has gone up. I found a new passion for exercise. My first day I couldn’t even get up off the floor! My legs wouldn’t let me. I was so embarrassed, He said it's okay, helped me up and said I will get there. Now I am able to get up without help. To my surprise I have grown a love for our workouts especially with boxing gloves. When Jake breaks out the boxing gloves, I get the biggest smile.
Jake explains what area of the body you are working, in correct form, and also discusses the importance of nutrition. It is a learning process. Jake is motivating and inspirational. I have taken baby steps for my new life changes with exercise and nutrition. I started with one day a week when I began and now I go three times a week. I continue to learn from Jake each session. I feel blessed he is my trainer.
When I began this process, my goal was only weight loss but now it is much more than that. My personal goal has changed, it is to improve my lifestyle. This isn’t temporary for me because it is a lifetime. I am learning to include exercise in my daily activity and to eat healthier. My husband loves the changes in me and is very supportive. I couldn’t have asked for a better trainer to show me the right way of getting healthy. Thank you so much Jake!

I have been training with Jake for over a year now and have to say he is the best personal trainer I have ever worked with. He takes the time to understand me as an individual and especially listens to what my needs and goals are, and this has made all the difference.
Before starting to train with Jake, other trainers I have worked with had much more of a cookie cutter approach – treating all clients the same. Since my goals were not to become a professional body builder, sometimes I felt that those workouts were not well-suited to me and I would quickly get burned out and stop engaging in the training. With Jake it has been the opposite. He understands the importance of keeping people motivated and that one of the best ways to do that is to act like a partner with the client.
I have gone to Lifetime Fitness and worked with trainers there and there is no question that Jake’s knowledge and experience trump them all.
Jake has a great sense of humor and isn’t afraid of making the session fun and something to look forward to rather than being something to dread. He knows his stuff and because he listens to me I feel that I am able to progress with my goals much faster than I ever have before.
He also takes a holistic view of health – understanding that diet, exercise, and sleep are all elements that need to be managed and balanced in order to achieve optimal health.
I am in middle age and he has made me see that age-related decline is not a given but something that occurs due to inactivity and a sedentary lifestyle. I feel I have more energy, more self-confidence, and improved optimism about the future because of the workouts he has guided me through.

I knew of Jake long before I started working out with him. At the time we were all at another gym and I was working out with another trainer. I recall remarking to my trainer then, “thank you for not making me do the crazy stuff that guy does!”
Fast forward and my trainer went on to work elsewhere and I got signed up with Jake. I was a little scared. He may see things a little differently, he is the only person that has ever had me crawl across the floor with plates under my feet, but he is effective. I have never been stronger than when I work out with Jake. He wants success for his clients as much, if not more, than they want it for themselves.
He is not a pushover and will make you work hard and will push you to be better everyday. But that push, the accountability, and the encouragement that Jake provides is what I need to be better than I was yesterday.
